Pros: sturdy
Cons: price
Review: When looking for safety gates for our daughter, my husband and I did quite a bit of research. We had already decided against pressure mounted gates and wanted a good quality gate. Since the Kidco Safeway Gate was rated #1 in Consumer Reports...

Pros: Love this gate! Attractive, sturdy, provides peace of mind knowing toddlers can't open it.
Cons: Hard to install, hard to open -especially if you are carrying baby or laundry
The Bottom Line: If you have a hard to fit stairway and want something attractive and sturdy this is the gate. Just don't let my hubby install yours...
Review: This gate is GREAT! Say that three times fast
When our first daughter The Gabster started to crawl we looked high and low for a gate to put at the top of our steep staircase. Keep in mind that the only type of gate that is acceptable... |

Pros: Attractive, easy to use once installed, sturdy, easily removable.
Cons: Expensive. Needed own hardware. Not easy to open one handed
The Bottom Line: For those who don't want to use pressure mounted gates, these are the ticket
Review: So our daughter is crawling. Great. Since we live in a 3 story home, we need to install gates for the stairwells. From what we heard, pressure mount gates are a no-no for stairs since they could be pushed out (makes sense). Besides, pressure gates,...

Pros: Expandable, one hand operation, swings open.
Cons: Needs to be tightened every few months.
Review: We have two of these in wood. One at the top of my stairs and one at the bottom.
I decided on this gate for a few reasons: 1. Some friends of mine had purchased the same one and LOVED it! 2. It was attached to the wall but was easy... |

Pros: Sturdy, attractive
Cons: Cost (though how much does safety cost?)
The Bottom Line: A safety gate that has a great design, good for stairs, and hard for toddlers to figure out.
Review: We moved into a split level house a year ago where the main living areas are on an upper level. When we moved in our son wasn't even crawling yet, but we knew we had to get the stairs covered!
I did a lot of Internet research to find what... |

Pros: Sturdy, safe and secure!
Cons: Can be challenging to install.
The Bottom Line: This gate is strong, reliable, attractive and fairly priced.
Review: Let me start by saying we've had two of these gates in place for over 2 years and still love them.
The hunt began when my son to be 3 year old was about 6 months old. We live in a 2 story cape and knew the importance of securing the stairway... |

Pros: Sturdy, good design, attractive, small kids can't open it easily
Cons: Affixes to wall permanently, expensive
Review: We live in a two-story home, and knew that we were going to need a good gate to keep our kids safe upstairs. The kid's bedroom door opens right at the head of the stairs, and a single mis-step by a sleepy child... or one that got out of the crib... could...

Pros: Strong, safe, easy to install
Cons: none
Review: We bought this gate after reading the Consumer Reports article about safety gates. It was there number one ranked gate and after owning it for 4 months now, it's easy to see why.
The construction is excellent, with all edges rounded so there... |

Pros: great safety gate
Cons: none
Review: When we moved into our home we immediately realized that we had a serious safety problem with the stairs leading down to our basement. This stairway has a banister on one side and a wall on the other side. Finding a gate that could attach to a banister...

Pros: Easy to install, easy to open & close
Cons: None
Review: Absolutely the best safety gate around. Fairly easy to install(once you install the first one the second one is a cinch), quite and easy to open and close (even with only one hand) and easy on the eyes (if you have a white banister.) Yes it is a bit...
